The French football weekly "France Football" announces that one of the best footballers on the planet, Lionel Messi, has decided to take a break from representing the Argentine national team.
The 28-year-old Argentine made this decision not only because he wants to heal the "wounds" after two painful defeats in the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil and this year's Copa America in Chile, but also because of the relentless aggressive attacks against his family members.
Let's recall that in the continental championship final over the weekend, where the Argentines faced the Chilean hosts, Messi's relatives in the stands were subjected to a wave of insults, and a particularly passionate fan even spat on the footballer's brother, Rodrigo.
The same fate befell striker Sergio Aguero's family. The latter is the stepfather of Messi's son.
In response, Messi refused to accept the prize awarded to the best player of the tournament after the match.
In the Copa America, the Argentine scored one goal and made three assists.
It is believed that in the near future, the footballer will ask national team coach Gerardo Martino not to include him in the team for the 2018 World Cup qualification matches.
