"Barcelona" star Lionel Messi admits that the past year was unsuccessful for both him and the team he represents.
During the year 2014, the 27-year-old footballer managed to score 50 goals, but the Argentine in the ranks of the Catalan club did not shine with exceptional play and he did not win any titles throughout the calendar year.
Messi admits that injuries and the tax evasion scandal had an impact on the unsuccessful year. However, the year 2015 started impressively for the forward, with 9 assists and 14 goals scored in 11 games played.
"The truth is that this year I want to return to my best sporting form as quickly as possible. The past season was very unsuccessful and I want to forget it as soon as possible.
Since the beginning of this year, my goal has been to be much better than in 2014. I want to be the same as I was in previous seasons and, I think, at the moment I am close to that goal," said the four-time best player in the world.
Messi's represented "Barcelona" will face "Manchester City" team in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals next week. The captain of the Argentine national team knows that the "Citizens" are dangerous.
"Man City" is a team made up of well-known names, so two tough matches are expected. At the moment, they look better than last season," the forward concluded.
