Madrid's "Real" defender Luka Modrić admits that his team stepped onto the field with fear of losing to Barcelona.
It should be noted that this Saturday the long-awaited "El Clasico" match took place in the Spanish Primera Division. Neymar put the Catalans ahead at the beginning of the match, but the "whites" responded with three goals and secured a 3-1 victory.
The 29-year-old footballer understands that a loss would have made their chances of winning the Primera Division even more difficult, and praises goalkeeper Iker Casillas for his excellent performance.
"We felt pressure even before the match, because we knew its importance. We were afraid of losing and allowing Barcelona to gain a 7-point advantage," Modrić told journalists.
"But we showed Barcelona in the first 15 minutes that they would be punished if they didn't give us space. This team is very strong, but this time they were powerless against us.
The key to victory was Iker Casillas, who played brilliantly against Lionel Messi. If he had scored a quick second goal, then it would have been difficult for us to change anything in that match," concluded one of Real's leaders.
