Today, the club leaders officially announced that they have managed to reach an agreement on the transfer of 25-year-old Eindhoven and Serbian-Montenegrin national team striker Mateja Kežman to the London team. The player will now need to arrange personal contract terms, undergo a medical examination, and submit an application for work in England.

Representing the "PSV" club, M. Kežman scored 28 goals, and over the course of four seasons at this club, he distinguished himself 95 times. In the 2003-04 season, he scored 35 goals in 33 season matches. This almost beat the record of the legendary Dutch striker Marco van Basten, who had scored 37 goals.

"We are very pleased that a player like Mateja is joining our club. He is one of the best strikers in all of Europe and will be a great player in our team," said club general director Peter Kenyon in a press release.

Kežman has also become the top scorer in the Yugoslav league. In 1999-2000, he achieved this while representing the Belgrade "Partizan" club, scoring 28 goals.
