Victory in the UEFA Champions League did not guarantee the highest income for Madrid's "Real" team. Spaniards, who won the trophy for the second time, did not match the finalist Turin's "Juventus" in terms of prizes received, reported lrytas.lt.
The Italian club became the first in the history of the competition to earn more than 100 million euros in revenues from Champions League matches throughout the season.
"Football Italia" reports that "Juventus" earned 109 million euros for this season, while the weekend triumphant "Real" can boast of receiving "only" 80.9 million euros in their bank account.
This happened because recipients of advertising money – playing clubs – distribute funds not based on the number of victories, but by sharing profits and the number of countries participating.
"Juventus" had to share advertising funds only with the "Napoli" team, which was eliminated from the Champions League in the quarterfinals.
Interestingly, "Napoli" will receive 65.7 million euros for this season, while Madrid's "Atletico," which reached the semifinals, will only receive 59.9 million euros.
