The coach of the German national team, Joachim Low, praised his players after the victory in the quarterfinals against Greece.
The strategist allowed the main attackers - Lukas Podolski, Mario Gomez, and Thomas Muller - to rest, but this did not prevent them from convincingly defeating the Greeks 4-2.
"I thought that after three victories in the group stage, it was necessary to inject some freshness into the team," Low motivated his decision. "We tried something different, and I think everything turned out great."
He continued: "We played a good game and reached the fourth consecutive semi-final. I am proud of the team. The Greeks were an interesting opponent. They had one chance and scored two goals, but even after they equalized, we did not get nervous."
One of the goals was scored by Miroslav Klose, who now has 64 accurate shots for the German national team - just four fewer than the legendary Gerd Muller.
"I was happy with the goal and the opportunity to play in the starting lineup," said the 34-year-old veteran born in Poland. "Our bench is very powerful - everyone is ready to play."
