Brazil's national football team, after a series of penalties, defeated Chile 1-1 (3-2) in the round of 16 and advanced to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, but Luiz Felipe Scolari was not very satisfied.
Not because of the players' performance, but because of the work of the referees. The specialist was caught off guard by how the referee Howard Webb treated the game towards the Brazilian star Neymar.
Already in the first minutes of the match, the Chileans tackled Neymar. The football player needed medical assistance and had to ice his knee.
The scene reminded L. Scolari of the times when he coached the Portugal national team with Cristiano Ronaldo in front.
"In the fifth minute of the match, Dutch defender Khalid Boulahrouz broke C. Ronaldo in half. After ten minutes, C. Ronaldo had to leave the field," shared the strategist unpleasant memories after a dramatic victory.
It seems that Neymar suffered a serious injury to his thigh. According to L. Scolari, it is quite severe.
"We have to put Neymar back on his feet in 4-5 days for the quarter-finals," worried Scolari.
He tried to silence skeptics who claim that Neymar falls to the ground after the slightest touch and often simulates injuries.
"Alexis Sanchez fouled Neymar about 15 times. And only after the twelfth foul Neymar fell on the grass," defended his pupil L. Scolari.
After the opening match of the World Cup with Croatia, in which the Japanese referee awarded a questionable penalty to Brazil, there was talk of favoritism towards the tournament hosts.
However, now, according to L. Scolari, everything has turned upside down.
"All the bad things are related to Brazil. But we have already noticed how timidly the referees work during our matches. If we want to become champions, this cannot continue. Refereeing must be fair to everyone, although we have already started to doubt it," criticized the referees L. Scolari.
In the quarter-finals, Brazil will face Colombia.
