Past weekend at the sports complex of Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus, five Lithuanian university students competed in a small football tournament, with the winning team being the Vilnius University team.
"The most enjoyable thing is that the students themselves have plenty of energy. It is very obvious that they miss football and want to win. Coaches perhaps see such tournaments more as a good practice before the approaching second round of the league," said league president Rimantas Turskis.
Vilnius University achieved all four victories in the tournament, scoring sixteen goals and not conceding a single one. In the title match, Vilnius University students defeated the Vytautas Magnus University team 1-0, who finished in second place. With two victories and two defeats, KTU students finished third, while MRU finished fourth, and LSU fifth.
"I am not inclined to highlight the results themselves, as, as I mentioned, the goal of the competition is preparation," said R. Turskis.
The most productive player of the tournament was Povilas Kalimavicius, who shone with several goals. The best players of each team were recognized as: Evaldas Valasevicius (VU), Gintas Rakauskas (VDU), Justas Juozelskis (KTU), Artur Rozsali (MRU).
The second round of the LSFL season will start in April.
