LSFL: Victorious Over Vilnius TECH Team, VU Returns to First Place © JumpStory

Last matches of the ninth Lithuanian student football league Vilnius University team crushed Vilnius Gediminas Technical University students 6:0 and returned to the first place in the tournament table.

Giedrius Barevičius' pupils, who had major lineup problems, immediately gave the initiative to their opponents. The latter firmly controlled the center of the field, but did not create any danger near the opponents' goal.

The first dangerous moment was created in the 13th minute when Giedrius Onuškevičius scored a goal from several meters away. It should be noted that before that the ball hit the crossbar, making the situation even more difficult for the goalkeeper.

After the goal, the game did not change. VU continued to control the center of the field, while Vilnius TECH tried to defend. However, they failed to do so before the break. Augustas Valukonis and Povilas Kalimavičius scored the second goal by settling in the opponents' penalty area for a long time.

In the second half, G. Barevičius' team got tired, and it was evident in the increased number of attacks from VU. VU's finishing was not as good anymore, but there were so many moments that the difference regularly grew.

At first, after a corner and a beautiful shot, the TECH goalkeeper almost saved the ball, but Emilis Varnas was the first to reach it, further increasing the team's lead.

Then it was Jono Lebedevo's turn. After coming on as a substitute, the league's top scorer scored a double in two minutes. In the first case - just putting the ball in from the corner flag, and in the second - escaping from the opponents' defenders.

G. Onuškevičius, who secured his double with a shot from a few meters away after a pass from the right flank, helped to score the last goal in this duel.

After winning, VU students became the masters of their fate in the final championship standings. Even if they tie with VDU in the last round, it is very likely that VU will remain in the first place.
