"Lyon" and "Marseille" secured victories, "Saint-Etienne" played to a draw (VIDEO)

In the first Sunday "Ligue 1" match, the "Lyon" footballers welcomed the championship outsider "Metz" at home.

The hosts secured three points before the end of the first half, but there was intrigue in the match, as Bruno Genesio's players did not dominate in the field after scoring two goals.

However, from the beginning Fernando Marcalo, and later Kenny Tete, took advantage of Nabil Fekir's assists to secure a 2-0 victory.

This win now allows the Lyon team to rise to third place in the tournament table, as "Nantes" club suffered defeat against "Dijon" yesterday.

A little later, "Toulouse" and "Saint-Etienne" entered the battle. In this match, both teams received the same amount of yellow cards as shots on goal.

Although the match ended without goals, "Saint-Etienne" forward Romain Hamouma missed two opportunities. In the 12th minute, the Frenchman failed to score after escaping alone towards the opponents' goalkeeper, and in the second half, his shot was also saved by the 18-year-old Alban Lafont.

Christophe Galtier's players continue to occupy the seventh place after earning a point, while "Toulouse" moves to tenth.

Finally, late in the evening, the "Lille" footballers played against "Marseille" at home. Throughout all the matches, there was a fierce fight on the field, but their fate was decided at the very beginning of the match when Morgan Sanson scored a goal.

This happened in the seventh minute and was the only shot on goal by the port city footballers. However, the hosts failed to equalize the result even with significantly better statistics and allowed the opponents to take three points.

The latter have now moved up to fourth place in the tournament table, while "Lille" remains in the relegation zone.
