"Lyon" celebrated a hard-fought victory against "Nantes", "Marseille" defeated "Nice" (VIDEO)

The French championship is approaching the finish line.

Today, in one of the last matches of the 36th round, the "Lyon" club almost secured fourth place, defeating "Nantes" at home.

Although the team led by Sergio Conceicao only had two shots on goal, the home team had a tough time, as Valentinas Rongier scored for the opponents in the 19th minute and the result held until midway through the second half.

Then "Lyon" got a chance to score from the penalty spot, which was earned and converted by Koffi Djidji, provoking a foul from Nabil Fekir. Shortly after, following a corner kick from Memphio Depay, Maxwell Cornet scored a header and Bruno Genesio's team was ahead.

However, it was not the end, as Guillaume Gillet managed to equalize in a similar situation, but Cornet scored again to secure three points for his team.

In the evening match, the "Nice" footballers suffered their third defeat. Last week they defeated "Paris Saint-Germain", but now they celebrated a victory against "Marseille", so the resort team will remain in third place.

However, the match was close and could have gone differently, as Lucien Favre's players had the emotional advantage when Mario Balotelli equalized at the beginning of the second half.

Still, in the first half, after a corner kick, Bafetimbi Gomis scored a goal with his head, and defender Patrice Evra added another goal, earning "Marseille" three points.

These points are crucial, as they allow the team to climb to fifth place, guaranteeing a spot in the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds. The team in the sixth position will only have a chance if "Angers" loses the "Coupe de France" final. After two consecutive draws, the "Bordeaux" footballers dropped further down.
