Today two more "Ligue 1" matches were played. In the first one, the clubs "Nice" and "Lyon" fought.
Last season, between these opponents, one could expect a very fierce confrontation, but today Bruno Genesio's players solved everything in the first half.
Memphis Depay scored the first goal after Maxwello Cornet's pass already in the fifth minute, and the visitors dominated even despite quickly gaining advantage. Cornet himself scored before the end of the first half.
In the 27th minute, "Lyon" started to crush the opponents after Mariano Diaz's accurate shot. Depay added a long-range shot to his account before the break and the result became even 4-0. The "Nice" team looked helpless even playing with their strongest lineup with Mario Balotelli upfront.
Finally, in the second half, Myziane Maolida put the final nail in the opponent's coffin, so the match ended with a stunning "Lyon" victory of 5-0.
A significantly more serious battle took place later between the clubs "Marseille" and "Guingamp". At least that's what the result shows. However, although the sailors won 1-0, the result could have been bigger.
Striker Kostas Mitroglou missed several opportunities, and also Morgan Sanson and Florian Thauvin were close to scoring. It was the latter winger who actually scored the only goal of the match, which came in the first half.
With three points earned, "Marseille" eleventh managed to move away from the fifth-placed "Nantes" and it is very likely that they will catch up with the "Monaco", who played against "Paris Saint-Germain" in the central match of the round tonight.
