Over the last five seasons, the "Ligue 1" champion club on Sunday defeated the Paris team after a penalty shootout series 5-4 and won the French Super Cup for the fifth consecutive time.

1 - 1 (after penalty shootout 5-4) 61` [0 - 1] Jerome Rothen 70` [1 - 1] Karim Benzema (from 11m.)

In these matches, "Lyon" coach Gerard Houllier had to play without nine main players, who had recently returned to training camp after the World Cup.

The "P.S.G" players started these matches more actively, and in the 61st minute, Paris goalkeeper Jerome Rothen put his team ahead. However, the French capital club's lead did not last long - only 9 minutes later, "Lyon" newcomer Kim Kallstrom was fouled in the penalty area and the 11-meter penalty was successfully converted by young Karim Benzema.

The equal score remained until the end of the match, so the winner of the Super Cup had to be determined by a penalty shootout, which did not go well for the "P.S.G" players. The only Bonaventure Kalou's shot from the 11-meter mark went straight to the "Lyon" goalkeeper, while Mahamadou Diarra's decisive penalty hit the target and "Lyon" celebrated the victory 5-4.
