Massimiliano Allegri says that withdrawing from the UEFA Champions League would not be a failure this season.
The "Juventus" team can already secure the title of the Italian "Serie A" champions this month, but their life in the Champions League is much more complicated. Next week, "Juventus" will try to overturn a two-goal deficit against Madrid's "Atletico" if they want to continue their journey in Europe.
"Since my arrival at 'Juventus,' the Champions League has always been our goal. However, it is not fair when people say that withdrawing from this tournament is a failure for us. The level of the Champions League has increased in recent years," said M. Allegri.
"On Tuesday, we will put in all the effort. If we make it to the next stage, it will be fantastic, but if not, we will try our luck next year.
I remember my first season with 'Juventus.' We played against 'Malmo,' and people were afraid that we might not succeed. Since then, we have reached the knockout stage every time.
Regardless of what you hear around us, our season will not be marked by failure if we withdraw from the Champions League. It's a bit funny to me. As I said, it will be great if we play in the quarterfinals, but if not, we will try again next time, it's just a football match. In theory, we have already won two trophies this season. It is truly not a failure," added M. Allegri.
