The first UEFA Champions League season match will long be remembered by Juventus coach Massimo Allegri.
The Turin team had great opportunities to score against Valencia in their away match. However, soon after, forward Cristiano Ronaldo received a highly controversial red card, and the end of the match was determined by two penalties scored by Miralem Pjanic from eleven meters.
"I could say that the VAR system would have definitely helped the referee make a decision. Remaining with a numerical disadvantage after such an incident in a Champions League match is truly disappointing. There was a risk of losing, and now we will be without the Portuguese in the future," Allegri said.
"Naturally, the tension of the match increased even more for C.Ronaldo. It's not easy to play at the Mestalla stadium, as Valencia is aggressive and the atmosphere here encourages fighting. However, my players managed to excellently stop the hosts' attacks.
