Not long ago, there were rumors in the Spanish media that the captain of Ajax Amsterdam had chosen a lucrative offer from Manchester United, although he was also offered contracts by teams such as Bayern, Barcelona, and Juventus.
However, M. de Ligt knows nothing about any agreement and emphasizes that the possibility of him staying in Amsterdam for at least another season should not be ruled out.
"I don't know yet," answered M. de Ligt when asked about his future career path. "Many things have been written in the press, but this has been going on for a year now and personally I have no problem with it."
"Frenkie has already made his decision, but I have not yet. That is the only truth. I always look for what is best for me and then make a final decision. I know that several clubs are interested in me," continued the defender.
The 19-year-old Dutchman also added that in Europe, aside from Ajax, he does not prefer any other club.
"I have no other dream club. My only dream was to play with the Ajax jersey and I fulfilled it. I always look at what is best for my career and improvement.
I will see where it is best for me to start preparing for the new season - with Ajax or elsewhere. As long as I have a contract with Ajax, I do not rule out the possibility of staying here," added M. de Ligt.
