On Sunday, the Netherlands unexpectedly ended their EURO 2020 journey after losing 0:2 to the Czechs in the quarterfinals. The crucial turning point of the match occurred in the 55th minute when Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt was sent off for a handball. The player himself did not hide his disappointment after the match and took the blame for the defeat. "We lost because of my action and it is extremely painful. It completely changed the course of the match and I couldn't allow something like that to happen. I watched the end of the game and saw how difficult it was for my teammates. I blame only myself for this defeat," said M. de Ligt.
