Milan's "Inter" sniper Mauro Icardi says that he is close to reaching an agreement on a new contract with his current club.
The 21-year-old Argentine is one of the key players for "nerazzurri" this season in the "Serie A" championship, including scoring a winning goal against "Roma," earning him 17 goals.
Icardi was linked with London's "Chelsea," but the player himself says he wants to stay in the "fashion capital" for even longer, beyond 2018, as stipulated in his current contract.
"We are close to an agreement," Icardi told Mediaset. "I want to stay, so it's between my agent and the club."
Yesterday's victory against "giallorossi" still keeps "Inter" chances to play in the UEFA Europa League next season, but Icardi has higher goals for the next season.
"It was a performance that required sacrifices from everyone, and we needed the victory. The club wants to be great again, that's what Inter's history demands," he said.
"Next year, we want to fight for the most important awards."
