M. Keown: A. Lacazette did not deserve to start the game on the bench

Former "Arsenal" defender Martin Keown does not understand what Arsene Wenger is doing.

The "Arsenal" coach decided to keep his forward Alexandre Lacazette on the bench in the August match against "Liverpool", which was lost 0:4. The same decision was made in the match against "Manchester City", which was lost 1:3.

It was A. Lacazette who scored the only goal for "Arsenal" after coming on as a substitute. The London team paid £46 million for the Frenchman in the summer, and M. Keown does not understand why he is sitting on the bench in important matches.

"I don't understand why Lacazette didn't start. It was the second big match that he began on the bench. I don't think he deserved that.

All doubts about the "Arsenal" team were erased when he stepped onto the field and scored a goal. Wenger's plan was to stop the "Man City" game and at times it worked. But where was their safety net?" - said M. Keown.
