Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown insists that Jack Wilshere, who has recovered from injuries, will become a star again and urges the club to quickly sign a new contract with him.
The 26-year-old midfielder was loaned out to Bournemouth last season and it seemed like his career at the Gunners was coming to an end.
However, this year he has returned to both the team lineup and their long-term plans, and in the previous match against Chelsea, he even scored a goal.
"Jack proved on Wednesday against Chelsea that everything is fine with him, he has truly returned and is a force to be reckoned with," Keown wrote in the Daily Mail.
"He is a superstar approaching the level of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, but most importantly, he wants to play for Arsenal.
"The uncertainty surrounding Sanchez and Ozil's future in Arsenal's ranks has stirred up unpleasant feelings.
"There was a big tragedy when some Arsenal players did not celebrate with Sanchez after he scored against Crystal Palace, but the situation was different when Wilshere led Arsenal forward against Chelsea. You could see how much his goal meant to everyone, including the players sitting on the bench.
"Wilshere is a true character in the dressing room and doesn't tolerate any nonsense.
"The fighting qualities that allowed him to recover from injury, he demonstrates very effectively. He is the engine of Arsenal.
"His new contract should be a formality. Considering his injury history, he will need to be realistic and the club may want to include something related to performances in the future in his contract.
"If Wilshere plays, he should be paid at the highest level, but this should be taken into account if he suffers long-term injuries again."
Wilshere has now started in the last several Premier League matches.
