Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown says that Jack Wilshere's loan was a risky move and, looking at Granit Xhaka's game, he has not justified it.
The Gunners acquired the Swiss this summer from Borussia Monchengladbach for £30 million, but he has not yet cemented his place in the starting lineup.
Some fans and experts have also started to question the newcomer's temperament, as he has already received four yellow cards and one red card in the Premier League.
"When you look at their team, at its components, you would say that the defense looks solid, you would say that the attacking trio looks convincing, but the worry is the center of the field," Keown told the BBC.
"Ironically, Jack Wilshere is sitting in the stands (during the match against Bournemouth - ed.). Perhaps this season he could have been the answer (to the rising problems - ed.), but he is loaned to Bournemouth.
"Wilshere's loan was a risky move. I understand why Jack left - he needs to play football and get back into rhythm. I just think that now, if you don't let Xhaka into the field, there is a huge gap in Arsenal's defensive midfield when there is no Cazorla."
"The problem is that Arsenal has a bunch of number tens. Ozil has solidified his position, but Ramsey wants to play there too, and Jack also wants the same."
"I think Jack has played deeper in the field for England, so he could do the same within Arsenal's ranks. I don't see any reason why he is not better than that guy Xhaka, who was brought in to replace him."
The mentioned Gunners' clash with Eddie Howe's pupils ended in a 3-1 victory, with Xhaka forming a midfield duo with Mohamed Elneny.
