The defender of the Italian national team has signed a new contract with the Milan club. The defender's current contract was valid until 2009 and the player agreed to extend the contract for another year, until 2010.

The 32-year-old defender returned to team training after a short vacation following the World Cup. Despite the interest of many clubs, M. Materazzi wanted to continue playing for "Inter", so negotiations for the contract between the player and the club were completed quite quickly.

The player became famous in the World Cup final when he provoked the legendary French national team defender Zinedine Zidane, who lost his nerves and hit M. Materazzi in the chest with his head. The Frenchman was sent off the field, and Italy won the penalty shootout lottery and became the strongest team on the planet.
