M. Neueris: "I want to play as long as my body allows it, I feel happy and needed"

In recent years, Manuel Neuer, who has had problems with serious injuries, continues to be the main goalkeeper for Munich's "Bayern" and the German national team.

The 33-year-old German, speaking to "Welt am Sonntag," revealed that he will end his career when he no longer feels needed in the national team and club.

"When you no longer feel needed, it becomes harder to motivate yourself. When your experience is needed by the team, it leads you forward.

"I currently feel very welcome in the national team and everyone is happy that I am here. Obviously, I have to show that with my proper game.

My longevity is related to my love for this sport. I am excited to be on the field both during training and matches. It gives me satisfaction. Although I am already 33 years old, I still feel that I can improve my game.

Of course, I worry about things that I can no longer do as I did 9 or 10 years ago, but I still rejoice in aspects that I can fulfill.

I am still ambitious. I want to play as long as my body allows me to, feel happy and needed," Neuer said.
