Mesut Ozil, speaking to the official website of London's Arsenal club, recalled his first meeting with his childhood hero Zinedine Zidane.
M. Ozil never hid the fact that his football idol as a child was Z. Zidane. The German later followed in the Frenchman's footsteps - becoming a player for Madrid's Real and performing similar roles.
"I was very excited," - said the German about his first meeting with the Frenchman. - "I always dreamed of playing for Madrid's Real club, so I could follow in his footsteps."
"My first days at Madrid's Real club were very tense because everything was new. However, I was most nervous when I had to meet Zidane. It was the biggest event of my life.
At that moment, my mind was filled with various thoughts. First of all, I remembered my childhood and friends with whom I used to play wearing Zidane's boots.
Seeing him, my hands started trembling incessantly, while he was completely relaxed at that time," - added M. Ozil.
