"Man City" head coach Manuel Pellegrini explained the reasons for success in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match in Kiev.
According to the Chilean, the decisive 3:1 victory in the first leg of the series was determined by giving the players timely rest.
During the FA Cup matches last weekend against London's "Chelsea," the coach decided to field five debutants and six young talents, resulting in a 1:5 loss.
"The coach always faces criticism when losing to opponents, but it is very important to make the right decision at the right time.
I always try to respect all tournaments, but at the moment I only have 13 players and it was very important to give the team some extra rest," said the Chilean.
"Unfortunately, we won't be able to continue the fight in the FA Cup tournament, but we played very intensively in the match in Ukraine.
Every season we are gradually improving. Previously we reached the quarterfinals, and this year we have made progress by finishing first in the group.
Now we have a chance to compete among the eight best teams in Europe," Pellegrini concluded.
