„Manchester City“ strategist Manuel Pellegrini insists that his players, behaving in the same way as London's „Chelsea“ footballers in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match against „Paris Saint-Germain“, will never develop.
The French champions played to a 2-2 draw against Jose Mourinho's „aristocrats“ in the English capital and secured a spot in the quarter-finals despite Zlatan Ibrahimovic being sent off in the first half.
After a penalty decision against Oscar, the referee was surrounded by at least ten „Chelsea“ players and demanded a red card for PSG's star.
„You will never see ‘City’ players mobbing the referee“, said Pellegrini. „Perhaps the decision can be discussed, but it should only happen once per match.“
„I don’t think our team is ready to win like that. You always have to decide which way is the right one.“
„If every time a decision is made by the referee, all players surround him, it becomes impossible for him to work.“
Asked if he was referring to „Chelsea“, the „City“ coach replied: „I am talking about many things that happen in different matches with different teams. However, they always try to put pressure on the referee.“
„All coaches prepare their players for victory, but everyone does it in their own way.“
