The International Football Federation (FIFA) has confirmed that its president and UEFA chief Michel Platini has been suspended from football for eight years.
In the press release, it is stated: "Mr. Blatter's trial process is primarily related to a CHF 2 million payment, which FIFA made to Mr. Platini in February 2011."
"Mr. Blatter, as FIFA president, authorized this payment to Mr. Platini, with no legal basis, by written agreement signed by both officials on August 25, 1999."
"Mr. Blatter could not provide any other legal basis in his written statement or personal hearing. His claim of an oral agreement was deemed insufficiently convincing, and the court rejected it."
It is worth mentioning that the FIFA Ethics Committee, which was established by Sepp Blatter, leader Hansas Joachim Eckert sought to remove both the Swiss and Platini from football altogether, but according to the current decision, they will not be able to participate in football for a shorter period.
The organization's leaders are still accused of corruption in making such responsible decisions as the selection of hosts for the World Cup.
"Sky Sports" journalist Kaveh Solhekol, who spoke with Sepp Blatter, insists that the Swiss plans to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the decision of the Ethics Committee.
