M. Platini may be banned from football for life

UEFA president, French football legend Michel Platini could be removed from the sport for the rest of his life. This was reported by the French portal lemonde.fr: the strictest possible punishment for M. Platini is proposed by the FIFA internal disciplinary committee. A decision on M. Platini is expected on Sunday. The FIFA Executive Committee, led by German lawyer Hans Joachim Eckert, takes over the independent Ethics Committee's investigation material and has started legal proceedings against 79-year-old S. Blatter and 60-year-old M. Platini. Currently, both men are serving a 90-day football ban imposed on them by the Ethics Committee. Both S. Blatter and M. Platini deny their guilt. M. Platini has previously claimed that the 1.8 million euros transferred to his account in 2011 was not a bribe, but a payment from FIFA for his work from 1999 to 2002. The 90-day ban prevents M. Platini from participating in next year's FIFA presidential elections, whose list of candidates has already been announced.
