M. Pochettino after failure in Liverpool: "We didn't play according to our capabilities"

Mauricio Pochettino's coached London's "Tottenham" team has not returned to the path of victories in the English "Premier" league yet.

The "Tottenham" team, which won the UEFA Champions League last week with a thrilling victory, entered the battle on Sunday against the leader of the "Premier" league, the "Liverpool" club. The "Spurs" footballers, who scored an early goal, had all the cards in their hands, but the "Liverpool" attacking machine tried to make sure that the visitors from London left without any points - a loss with a score of 1:2.

"I fully support my players," - M. Pochettino mentioned about the confidence in the team after the match. - "We have 29 players and they will all get their opportunities. I have been here for more than five years and now is the most appropriate time to show trust in this group."

Talking about the match itself, the strategist said: "It was a competitive duel in which we did not give up until the last minute. Of course, I am a little disappointed that we did not have control of the ball and did not force them to play closer to our goal. I am disappointed with that, but I liked the fact that we gave them a fight. We have to continue what we are doing.

"We played against a very strong team, in my opinion, one of the best in all of Europe. So, we can be glad that we were competitive enough."

Asked about the penalty kick awarded to "Tottenham", M. Pochettino admitted that the referee was not merciful.

"I do not want to make excuses and I have to accept the decision. Technically it could have been a penalty kick, as there was contact, but the truth is that it was a situation where the ball did not pose any danger to our goal.

It is not easy to accept such a penalty kick, but it is also not worth looking back," - added the Argentine.
