M. Pochettino: P. Guardiola is the beginning of a new era in football

The head coach of London's Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino, in an interview before the upcoming match against Manchester City, spared no praise for his future opponent Pep Guardiola.

Tomorrow at 16:15 Lithuanian time at White Hart Lane stadium, Tottenham will face Man City. P. Guardiola's team unexpectedly played a draw 3-3 with Glasgow Celtic in the middle of the week, but before that they had won eight consecutive victories.

M. Pochettino has faced P. Guardiola before, when his Espanyol team in Spain played against Barca. The Argentine strategist believes that Guardiola is the main face of the new era of football.

"He is the face of what we see in football now. That's what happens when you combine romance and technology-based football. I think he is the beginning of the new era of football," said M. Pochettino.

M. Pochettino recalled how he scared his new team's players when he arrived at Espanyol.

"12 hours before the match against Barcelona, we had two training sessions. I told the players that we have to play high-pressure football and they were very surprised. They thought it was impossible to play like that against Barcelona, but the result speaks for itself - we played 0-0 and it was something impressive.

"In football, you have to be as brave as in life. It is important for a player to feel good, be determined and have character. I can't imagine playing any other way. You always have to be brave," added the strategist.
