Marco Reus sent a message to "Borussia" fans announcing his decision to step down as team captain.
The long-time BVB player did not reveal his reasons for this decision. However, he stated that the decision on the new captain will now be made by the team coach Edin Terzić and sports director Sebastian Kehl.
The new captain of the Dortmund team is likely to be either Mats Hummels or Emre Can.
M. Reus signed a new contract in May, which will be valid until 2024.
