Dortmund's "Borussia" attacking midfielder Marco Reus has successfully undergone knee ligament surgery, but along with this good news, one not so pleasant news has also emerged.
Injured in the German Cup final against Frankfurt's "Eintracht", the German is likely unable to play until the beginning of 2018.
The official "Bundesliga" website announces the long period of time we won't see the 27-year-old footballer, while Reus himself writes about the upcoming rehabilitation on Instagram.
"Hello, fans, I hope everything is going well for you. Last Wednesday, I underwent knee ligament surgery. It went well and I am already starting to recover. Now I will start a relatively long period of rehabilitation, which I will tackle with all I have! I will do everything to get back on the field quickly. I have always come back strong and this time will be no different.
"We have big plans with our new Dortmund coach Peter Bosz and the national team at the World Cup in Russia. My main goal is to be in top physical form next year so I can show my best game at the end of the season.
"Thank you for your support. It means a lot to me and gives me strength for the tough time ahead. I wish Jogi Low and the guys all the best in the Confederations Cup."
Last season, Reus missed a total of 16 "Bundesliga" matches due to injuries, but in the 17 games he appeared in, he was one of the leaders of the team, scoring seven goals and making four assists. In addition, he scored four times in four UEFA Champions League matches.
"Hello Fans, I hope you are all doing well. Last Wednesday I had surgery on my posterior cruciate ligament. The surgery went well and I am already on the road to recovery. Now a relatively long rehab phase will follow, which I will approach with everything I have! I will do everything to step back onto the field soon. I have always come back strong and this time will be no different. We have big plans with our new BVB coach Peter Bosz and the national team at the World Cup in Russia. It is my big goal to be in top shape in the new year so that I can fully engage again in the decisive phase of the upcoming season. Thank you for your support, it means a lot to me and gives me strength for the difficult time that lies ahead. I wish Jogi Low and the guys good luck for the game tonight and at the Confed Cup! See you soon, Your Marco.
