M. Sarri after the first failure: "The game was catastrophic"

M

aurizio Sarri was never so disappointed with his players' performance this season - London's Chelsea experienced their first failure in this season of the English Premier League.

In the first half, the dominant London club Tottenham convincingly defeated the "Blues" with a score of 3:1. According to M. Sarri, the team played below standards.

When asked if the team lacked effective defensive play, the strategist replied: "It is obvious. I knew there were many problems in the team, and today they were highlighted. I hope that the players themselves will first see them, as I already told them last week that we have a big problem in how we start the matches."

"Creatively, everything was different today, because after 15 minutes we were already losing 0:2. That was the first problem, but not the only one I saw. It seemed to me that we were not ready to play, especially in the first 20 minutes, looking at the physical, psychological, technical and tactical preparation. We need to put in a lot of work. There are so many unresolved problems.

"We need to put in a lot of work during training, but the problem is that we no longer have time for it - we have to play every three days, which is particularly difficult to improve during training. We have no choice but to try to get something out of it. The way we defended today was a complete disaster.

"I'm not just talking about the defensive line - attacking players didn't pressure the opponents at all, the midfielders didn't do their defensive work, and ultimately everything added up to a defensive disaster," M. Sarri said.
