M. Sarri: "Serie A" is most important to us

"Napoli" coach Maurizio Sarri feels that his players are ready to win the Italian league above all, and for this goal they may even relax a little in the UEFA Champions League.

On Tuesday, the club from Southern Italy put on a great performance and only lost to "Manchester City" after a tough fight, but adding the failure against Shakhtar Donetsk, they are currently in third place in Group F after the first round.

On the other hand, yesterday "Napoli" played against Milan "Inter" on equal terms on the home front and maintained the leadership position in the tournament table.

"To be honest, I see my team as more motivated when playing in Serie A compared to Europe. We played with great dedication for 95 minutes, while in Manchester it lasted only 55 minutes," Sarri told Mediaset Premium.

"City" is exceptional in terms of technical and tactical level, but I feel that the players are more concerned about Serie A.

"The Champions League is exhausting, but it is also a wonderful tournament that we can participate in, so I think we should give it our all. We will pay any price for it."

"I think it is subconscious. If in our minds we feel more competitive in Serie A than in the Champions League, it can be difficult to get rid of that mindset."

"In the end, we don't have as many chances to triumph in Europe, but we still want to perform well in the tournament."

Speaking specifically about yesterday's match against "Inter," Sarri emphasized Napoli's advantage in ball control and shots on goal. The coach sees this as two lost points.
