According to reports, Mateo Kovacic, who does not want to return to Madrid's Real club, will most likely stay in London's Chelsea club.
Maurizio Sarri mentioned at a press conference that he would like to see the Croat in the club for the next season. Kovacic is currently on loan to Chelsea until the end of this season.
"Kovacic is here on a loan agreement, but I would like him to stay with us," said Sarri. "You know we have problems in that position - Jorginho is the only one who can play there."
"In my opinion, Kovacic can become an excellent holding midfielder. Obviously, he is not a defensive midfielder, but you know that I prioritize technical players in that position. For example, in the last game Jorginho touched the ball 161 times.
"It is very important for us to have quality players in this position. When I talk about quality, I don't mean just the 'last' pass, but also the ability to control the ball.
"I don't want another midfielder, because I want to give Kovacic a chance," added the strategist.
Mateo Kovacic is valued at around 50 million euros in Madrid's Real team. It is not ruled out that he could be included in a deal for Eden Hazard.
