It is speculated that the versatile player of the Lithuanian national team and "Brescia" club may interest a European champion club. This was reported today by one of Italy's most famous newspapers "Gazzetta dello Sport".
In the section of the newspaper's page about the "Serie B" league regarding possible player transfers, it is briefly mentioned that "Brescia" paid attention to the fact that "Liverpool" likes M. Stankevicius's game, but there have been no specific negotiations between the two clubs.
Last year, in the elections for the best Lithuanian player, the remaining second player in the defender and midfielder positions who can play for a couple of seasons has been one of the leaders of the "Brescia" club and remained in the club despite falling into the second strongest "Serie B" league, in which they compete this season.
During the 2006 World Cup qualifying matches, the former "Ekranas" defender M. Stankevicius was also one of the best Lithuanian national team players and contributed to the memorable draws in Vilnius against the homeland of "Liverpool" coach Rafa Benitez, Spain. However, the Lithuanian had to miss the return match in Valencia due to disqualification.
