The media in Spain reports that Real Madrid has managed to acquire defensive midfielder Mark van Bommel. This should disappoint, as the club was also interested in signing the Dutch national team player.
The Spanish newspaper AS claims that a fierce rival of the royal club also showed interest in M. van Bommel, but received a response from "PSV" that he had already agreed with Real Madrid. The truth has not yet been confirmed by either Spanish or Dutch clubs.
The Dutchman himself recently stated that he would like to play for Tottenham, but rejecting the offer from Real Madrid would be difficult for him.
Real Madrid has been looking for a strong defensive midfielder for some time. In recent months, the Spanish club has shown interest in players Patrick Vieira and Argentine Javier Mascherano.
