„Paris Saint-Germain“ defender Marco Verratti believes that after the recent draws with London's „Chelsea“, the French champions have all chances to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Despite PSG's inability last season to overcome a 3-1 lead in the two-match series against the „aristocrats“ at home, the Italian believes that his team will have an advantage this time, as they will not be considered the favorites.
„We know that both us and „Chelsea“ are strong. We will travel to „Stamford Bridge“ to win. This is the only result that will allow us to progress. We will give it our all. We have a great opportunity“, Verratti told the UEFA website.
„We prepared for the match exactly as it unfolded. We wanted to give a bit of initiative to „Chelsea“, but also try not to leave much space, as they have players who are very hard to catch in such cases.“
„Meanwhile, when we controlled the ball ourselves, we wanted to attack. I think we created some really good opportunities, but we couldn't capitalize on them.“
„Nevertheless, we are satisfied with our performance, as we managed to equalize after conceding a goal. Now, the match in London will determine our progression to the next stage. We will travel there knowing that we have to win. Last season, the fans might have thought that our tie winner was already clear, as we had a two-goal advantage, but that was a bad thought.“
The second leg of the quarterfinal match will be played on March 11th. "
