Real Sociedad's midfielder Martin Zubimendi stated to the publication "Diario Vasco" that an offer from Liverpool came at an unexpected time:

The "Scousers" offer came to me rather unexpectedly because I was on vacation at that time.

It was a very inconvenient time for me... But then I weighed the pros and cons and decided that the best offer for me was to stay with the Basque team.
