After today's news that two Madrid clubs - "Real" and "Atletico" - received FIFA sanctions, both clubs revealed that in the near future they will appeal against such a decision.
FIFA sanctions were imposed on "Real" and "Atletico" for not following the rules when acquiring underage football players. If the appeals are rejected, the capital teams of Spain will still be able to buy players in January, but the transfer ban will be in effect from the upcoming summer until the following year's summer.
Madrid's "Real" today issued a statement in which they do not admit their guilt and will soon file an appeal against this decision.
“Madrid's ‘Real’ will challenge such a FIFA decision to all sports institutions and consider it completely unacceptable,” said the "Real" press release.
It is said that today "Real" will hold a press conference where they will explain in detail their actions regarding this FIFA decision.
Meanwhile, another Madrid team, which received a penalty - "Atletico", is also planning to appeal.
“To be honest, this decision surprised us. I do not yet know if we will be able to buy players in the summer, as I have not studied those rules, but we will definitely appeal, and after that we will see what our next steps will be,” said "Atletico" president Enrique Cerezo to Goal.
Previously, Barcelona, which also received the same penalties, had filed an appeal, but it was rejected, and the club could not buy new players in the past two transfer windows.
