27-year-old Mariano Diaz will no longer wear the jersey of Madrid's "Real" in the upcoming season. "Marca" and AS report that, at the choice of Zinedine Zidane, the Spanish forward who used to play in the striker position has agreed with Lisbon's "Benfica" club, which failed to acquire Edinson Cavani this summer. M. Diaz will move to Portugal with a one-year contract. However, the Portuguese will have the option to buy out his rights for approximately 18 million euros after the season. The most important condition in these negotiations was that "Benfica" cover the player's annual salary, which amounted to 4.5 million euros in the "Real" club. M. Diaz wore the "Real" jersey only seven times last season and scored one goal. Prior to that, the forward successfully played for the "Lyon" club.
