The Madrid "Real" club has started intense negotiations with "Lyon" for the acquisition of left-back Ferland Mendy. According to Marca, this week representatives of the club - sports director Jose Angel Sanchez and transfer manager Juni Calafat - visited France, where they sat down with the management of "Lyon".
The negotiations are not yet complete, but it is believed that an agreement could be reached as early as next week. Mendy himself has expressed his desire to move to "Real", so the clubs only need to agree on the transfer fee.
"Lyon" expects to receive no less than 45 million euros for the promising defender. Mendy will sign a long-term contract with Madrid "Real". He will provide competition for Marcelo next season, who has ultimately decided to continue wearing the "white" jersey.
This season, the Brazilian had outperformed club product Sergio Reguilon, but Z. Zidane currently does not see him in the starting lineup, so he is likely to be loaned to another "La Liga" team for the season.
23-year-old F. Mendy has scored three goals and provided as many assists in 39 appearances this season.
