The club hopes to sign a contract with Ruud van Nistelrooy in the near future.
The experienced Dutchman wore the jersey of "Hamburg" last season, but will become a free agent in June.
"We are interested in van Nistelrooy and, in my opinion, we have made significant progress in negotiations," said Antonio Fernandez, the head of "Malaga". "We have not received a response from him yet, but we know that the offer is tempting for the forward."
In the German championship, the footballer scored seven goals in 25 matches.
