A true drama unfolded in the third quarterfinal of the Africa Cup of Nations between Ivory Coast and Mali. After extra time, the hosts won 2:1.
In the 16th minute, Mali's player Adama Traore missed a penalty from 11 meters. In the 43rd minute, Ivory Coast defender Odilon Kossounou was sent off the field after receiving a second yellow card.
In the 71st minute, Mali's national team was brought ahead by Dorgeles Nene who appeared on the field after a substitution. As the match was coming to an end, in the 90th minute, the hosts were saved by Simon Adingra. Everything went to extra time.
In the 120+2 minute, Ivory Coast's players, who were in numerical disadvantage, were brought ahead by Oumar Diakite who appeared on the field after a substitution, playing for "Reims" club. Just a minute later, this player who scored the goal received a red card.
In the semifinals, Ivory Coast will meet the Democratic Republic of Congo on February 7.
