Man City scored both of their goals at the end of the first and second halves. Aymeric Laporte put the visitors ahead just before halftime, and Gabriel Jesus sealed the victory in the 98th minute.
After this win, Pep Guardiola's team has 62 points. Liverpool has the same number of points, but they are still waiting for the next round of matches.
Man City will face another important battle on Sunday when they host Chelsea in Manchester.
Everton suffered their second consecutive defeat and remain in ninth place until the weekend.
