"Man City" clinched an important victory by not giving away gifts to "Chelsea" for mistakes

On Saturday at 19:30 in the evening, intriguing 13th round matches were played in the English Premier League. At the "Etihad" stadium, two teams aiming to compete against Liverpool in the Premier League - Manchester City against Chelsea from London - met. The "blues" started the match successfully but eventually acknowledged the hosts' advantage. Chelsea took the initiative from the beginning of the match and gained the advantage in the 21st minute. Mateo Kovačič made a great pass towards the Man City penalty area, where N'Golo Kante, after intercepting and opening up against the opponent, sent the ball into Ederson's goal with his left foot. The "blues" did not close down their defensive after the goal and tried to make life difficult for the hosts but were punished in the 29th minute after their own mistake - Jorginho lost the ball in the middle of the field, Kevin De Bruyne sprinted towards the opponents' goal and with the help of a ricochet defeated Kepa. In the 37th minute, Chelsea was punished again after a similar mistake, although in this episode, individual skill played a bigger role - Riyad Mahrez scored from the penalty area by dribbling past Emerson and shooting low into the opponents' goal. At the end of the first half, Man City could have solidified their advantage, but Sergio Aguero failed to take advantage of Kepa's mistake - the Argentinean striker received the ball in front of the goal and shot it into the crossbar. In the second half, the game was quite balanced - Chelsea lacked sharpness in attack, but the tension remained until the end of the match. In extra time, Man City managed to score a third goal, but after a VAR review, Raheem Sterling's goal was disallowed. Nevertheless, this did not change anything - the "citizens" triumphed with a score of 2:1. For Chelsea, this was their first failure in the Premier League after five consecutive wins. Chelsea dropped to fourth place with 26 points. Meanwhile, Man City, back on the winning path, rose to third place and maintained a 9-point gap from the leader Liverpool.
