On Wednesday, the last two second leg matches of the UEFA Champions League were played. After them, all quarter-final participants became clear.
The most intriguing match took place in France, where the local team "Monaco" tried to retaliate against "Manchester City" after losing in England. The impressive performance by the "Monaco" team resulted in a 3-1 victory, securing their spot in the next stage.
Leonardo Jardim's players had to overcome a two-goal deficit, and knowing the result of the first leg, a goalless match was not expected.
By the 8th minute, "Monaco" scored the first goal - Kylian Mbappe found the net after a pass from Bernardo Silva.
"Man City" did not react to the conceded goal and continued to defend against dangerous attacks from the hosts. In the 29th minute, the second goal was scored - Fabinho found the net after another pass from the flank.
With this result, the eleven from Monaco had enough to progress to the next stage, but it was still a slippery slope. In the second half, the Cityzens activated their attack and Leroy Sane finally managed to score a goal in the 71st minute, which could lead "Man City" to the quarter-finals.
However, the guests from Manchester failed to maintain this advantage - Tiemoue Bakayoko scored a goal from a set-piece. "Man City" needed just one more goal, but their attack was lacking and "Monaco" held on to the result, which took them to the next stage.
In the other match, Madrid's "Atletico" played to a scoreless draw with Leverkusen's "Bayer." Diego Simeone's players were content with this result, as they had won the first leg 4-2.
