"Man City" is already preparing for life without Fernandinho

Football news portal Goal.com reveals that "Manchester City" is already making long-term plans for the future. The citizens have earmarked two targets for the defensive midfielder position - Shakhtar's brazil Fred and Julian Weigl from Borussia Dortmund.

Offers for these two footballers will be made in the summer, when Yaya Toure will be allowed to leave the team after his contract expires.

However, one of them is supposed to become not a replacement for the Ivory Coast representative, but for Fernandinho. Despite the fact that this Brazilian is a vital pillar for the "citizens" and recently extended his contract, he is already 32 years old.

So, "Man City" strategist Pep Guardiola is forced to look towards the future.

Fred impressed him in the UEFA Champions League, where the leaders of the English Premier League faced Shakhtar twice this season.

Meanwhile, Weigl has been watched by the Catalan for several years now - he wanted to acquire the German shortly after taking over "Man City".

It is believed that negotiations for one of the mentioned players will start soon, as they want to finalize the transfer as quickly as possible before the start of the season. Similar agreements were previously reached for Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva.

However, it is not yet clear who will be Guardiola's main target in strengthening the midfield.

In winter, "Man City" will also try to lure Southampton's center-back Virgil van Dijk, and in summer - sign an agreement with Alexis Sanchez.
