"Man City" president: "We offered Lionel three times bigger salary"

It is probably no secret to anyone that most of the world's club leaders would like to see Lionel Messi in their team. Owned by Sheikh Khaldoon al Mubarak, "Man City" is no exception.

The Arab sheikh publicly confirmed that the club was interested in the Argentine.

When asked by the press about the player the club wanted but didn't receive, he replied: "Messi. We asked Pep to try to convince the Argentine. We offered him triple the salary, but he didn't even start talking about moving."

The Argentine still has a contract valid for three years and earns the most in the world - 45 million euros per year.
