„Manchester United“ newest financial results should not be a cause for happiness - the club recorded a debt increase of up to 514.9 million euros.
In the past three months, debts of a team with 20 „Premier“ league trophies have grown by more than 32 million euros. This was contributed by the exchange rate between the US dollar and the British pound.
In addition, due to decreased revenues from broadcasts, the club's total revenue decreased by 14 percent (to 143 million euros) over the year. This happened because the „Red Devils“ did not participate in the UEFA Champions League this season and withdrew early from the „Capital One“ Cup competition.
On the other hand, despite the arrival of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao, the amount of money spent on players' salaries decreased by 5.6 percent.
„Man United“ executive director Ed Woodward expressed optimism in his statement, commenting on the situation because the „Premier“ league recently signed a record-breaking broadcasting deal that will significantly increase teams' revenues. He also praised the strong business model of the club.
